
School owners are data controllers for the collection and use of personal data carried out in connection with the use of viten.no. School owners enter into a data processing agreement with the Norwegian Centre for Science Education – Naturfagsenteret – which will be the data processor. For other types of use, Naturfagsenteret is the data controller for personal data related to the operation and maintenance of viten.no. The company Ravn Webveveriet AS is our provider for development, operation and maintenance of the website.
You can use viten.no without logging in, but if student answers are to be stored and teachers are to be able to comment on them, students and teachers must log in. Students and teachers primarily log in via Feide. An account linked to the Feide account is then created. We retrieve information about you from Feide, but information you store with us will not be available in other services.
For Feide users, viten.no has access to the following Feide data:
Answers that are stored and any teacher comments on these are deactivated after 12 months and are then automatically deleted after a further 30 days.
Accounts are automatically deleted if the user has not logged in during the last 15 months. You can delete your account yourself when you are logged in. The account is then immediately deactivated and will then be automatically deleted after a further 30 days. If you are a student and a member of any classes, the teacher will still be able to see your answers during this period.
Data in backups will be deleted within an additional three months.
Employees at Ravn Webveveriet AS who have a service-related need have access to information that users register on viten.no. A separate data processing agreement has been entered into with the provider Ravn Webveveriet AS, which regulates rights and obligations pursuant to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Norwegian Personal Data Act and the Norwegian Personal Data Regulations. The agreement ensures that personal data about registered users on the websites covered by this agreement is not used unlawfully or made available to unauthorized parties.
Administrators at Naturfagsenteret have access to user accounts in order to change or delete users when necessary.
Naturfagsenteret collects basic web statistics for viten.no with the tool Plausible.io. The purpose of this is to prepare statistics that we use to document usage, as well as to improve and further develop the website. Plausible.io does not use cookies and does not collect personal data.
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer when you download a web page. viten.no uses cookies only for necessary purposes, and we therefore do not base this on consent.
viten.no uses cookies to handle the login mechanism: __Host-next-auth.csrf-token, __Secure-next-auth.callback-url, __Secure-next-auth.session-token.
viten.no does not use cookies to generate statistics.
Some learning paths contain embedded videos from Vimeo. These are loaded with the parameter Do Not Track (dnt=true), which prevents Vimeo from tracking session data and limits cookies to only those necessary for the secure operation of the player: player_clearance, cf_clearance, _cf_bm and _cfuvid.
