Many physicists would like one single theory that can describe all natural phenomena. We do not have such a theory today. Explore quantum physics – a peculiar and fascinating microworld that breaks with classical physics.

Around 1900, physicists developed a new kind of physics – quantum physics – to describe observations of atoms and smaller parts such as the electron in experiments.

In this module you will look more closely into the particle properties of light. That entails looking at light as photons. You will work with the phenomenon called the photoelectric effect.

Quantum objects are described by a wave model that explains observed quantum effects, including interference experiments with electrons.

The phenomenon of entanglement is about different parts of a system sharing a common quantum state, even when they are very far apart from each other.
